Fuensanta

Fuensanta 'La Moneta', is an artist who dis- covered her vocation early in life. Her passion for flamenco dance began in early childhood. Due to her devotion and natural capacity to dance she earned her place in the famous Zambras and Tablaos (Flamenco theatres) in the Sacromonte, Granada while still a young girl. She also performed at concerts organised by television and radio companys and won many important awards.

'La Moneta' combined her work with her studies financing her dance classes from the zambras and tablaos enabling her to study with the best flamenco dancers; Manolete, Javier Latorre, Mario Maya, Juan Andrés Maya, Juana Amaya, Matilde Coral, Israel Galván.

At her first performance in Madrid, at the Sala Suristan, all the fans and critics who saw her came to the conclusion they were watching a dancer who, due to the highly char- ged sense of drama she brings to her dance, had all the necessary qualities to become, in the not too distant future, a major figure in flamenco. Despite her youth, Fuensanta 'La Moneta' has danced in the most presti-gious flamenco clubs, flamenco festivals and in various theatres throughout Europe. In 2003 at the prestigious Festival de Cante de la Minas de La Unión 2003 she won first prize for her 'Desplante'.
